Jon Worth and Jan Seifert have set up an online campaign in order to finally give Henry Kissinger what he wants - a single person to call in Europe.
In the form of a president of both the Council and the Commission.
Personally, I like the fragmented chaos that is the EU and I do not want it to get federal structures - part of the territory of not being a federalist.
Plus, I don't like giving Kissinger what he wants.
So I'm not backing this. But if you would, or if you just want to take a look, here's the link:

Agh, one minute you berate the EU for not getting its act together over Kosovo, and then claim your happy for it to be a mess!
Plus what about democratic legitimacy? Better One President, than a powerful President of the European Council without legitimacy.
Oh yes, Nanne, do think about democratic accountability. You are still a democrat, aren't you?
Kosovo was a nice reality test. Although I was a bit disappointed by the EU's complete disarray, it simply the case that European countries will have different foreign policies for some time. I don't believe in institutional fixes for this problem.
The Council and the Commission are very different bodies (the first intergovernmental, and mainly legislative, the second supranational and mainly executive). I don't think that they should have one head, as the roles are very different.
I'm also not happy about the new single Council presidency and hope that the position will not become one of great power.
An appointed Council President is appropriate insofar as the body is intergovernmental -- of the Member States.
